BISHOPTON DAY

Saturday 19th June 2010

What a fabulous day!! I am sure there are a few sun burned people after that day... have you noticed that many people stay on after the events have closed. I find this inspiring, maybe we should have a picnic and BBQ area set aside for next year where you can come along and get BBQ food to add to your picnic!

Group photos

This year our new venture Retinal Impressions, www.retinalimpression.com, set up the portable studio and invited you to come along and get your photos taken, after this success we will do the same again next year but we will add in a teaching studio too... get some hints and tips on taking better photos.

It was a packed events schedule again this year and I am in awe of the Bishopton Day Committee putting this together. Bishopton is envied for our community lead events. Reminds me of what a fantastic community we live in. I'll be updating the Bishopton Day web site: www.bishoptonday.com with photos and links. One more time WELL DONE TO THE BISHOPTON DAY COMMITTEE FOR A SPECTAULAR DAY!

HELP NEEDED

Margaret (Peggy) Laird

Can I ask people if they remember my mother in law, Margaret (Peggy) Laird.

I am trying to find more information about her early life.

I know a little about her; she was born in Bishopton in June 1922 and

lived at 'Old Castle.  I believe she had a sister called Barbara.

Her father was John Laird and her mother was Annie Williamson.  Her sister had 2 daughters, Penelope and Cecilia or Celia but this is all we know of her.

I believe she had a daughter in 1944 called Marcia, but believe that the father of Marcia died in the 2nd world war.

Anyone remember her or her family, I would be most grateful.

Cashew (bless you)

A man walked in to a bar after a long day at work. As he began to drink his beer, he heard a voice say seductively "You've got great hair!"

The man looked around but couldn't see where the voice was coming from, so he went back to his beer. A minute later, he heard the same soft voice say "You're a handsome man!" The man looked around, but still couldn't see where the voice was coming from.

When he went back to his beer, the voice said again "What a stud you are!" The man was so baffled by this that he asked the bartender what was going on.

The bartender said "Oh, it's the nuts, they're complimentary."

Thanks to Stuart for this
